New York Yankees pitcher Anthony Misiewicz had a painful day at the office when he was hit in the head by a hit from a Pittsburgh Pirates opponent on Friday night.
In the sixth inning, the reliever had barely replaced Gerrit Cole on the mound when he saw his pitch return to him much faster than expected.

The curveball he threw to Ji Hwan Bae was hit with so much force that when the ball hit Misiewicz’s skull, it flew even higher to the edge of the outfield.
The 28-year-old writhed in pain near the hill until he received help from sports therapists. He got back to his feet under his own power, but left the field in a cart.
This season, Misiewicz played for three teams: the Yankees, the Detroit Tigers and the Arizona Diamondbacks. He posted a 9.00 earned run average in 11 innings.
