The day before it was announced that a Ukrainian maritime drone had hit the small missile ship Samum. A day later, a photo of the Russian naval vessel emerged.

Ukraine’s security service said the Sea Baby attacked the right rear section of the $45 million ship. After the attack, the “Samum” lost its ability to move, which could indicate damage to the propulsion system. It is possible that the ship was permanently disabled.
The Russians managed to tow the Samum for repairs. According to the photo that emerged, two boats were used for this purpose. The “Samum” has a rear fairing. This is one of the features of the Project 1239 ships, but from the photo it seems that the aft part became more submerged than it should have been.
The attack on the Russian ship was carried out by the Ukrainian sea drone Sea Baby. Ukraine’s security service noted that the operation involved an experimental version of the drone designed to operate in stormy weather.
