This year, 15,000 members of the armed forces are taking part in the traditional annual military parade commemorating the start of the Mexican War of Independence to commemorate the 213th anniversary of the heroic act that ended 500 years of Spanish colonialism.

Parade 2023 in honor of the Military Academy

According to the Mexican president, the 2023 annual edition of the military parade will be dedicated to the military academy for the 200 years of its founding and will therefore be “the parade of the cadets”.

When does the 2023 military parade start?

According to official information from the Secretariat of National Defense, Sedena, this year’s parade will begin at around 11:05 a.m. and will cover a distance of approximately 7.8 kilometers. The event will feature contingents from the National Defense, Secretary of the Navy and the National Guard.

It is estimated that 66 military vehicles will take part, in addition to 16 themed vehicles, 11 boats, 6 Texas-type aircraft and 23 canine elements.

The President of Mexico is expected to give a short speech, accompanied by Martí Batres, head of government of CDMX, and Delfina Gómez, elected governor of the State of Mexico.

What will the parade route be?

The route of the parade on September 16, 2023 will begin in Pino Suárez, in the city’s First Square, and then go along the Zócalo plateau of the capital and from there along 5 de Mayo Street. From there you reach the Palace of Fine Arts and continue along Av. Paseo de la Reforma towards Chapultepec to end at Campo Marte.
