14 people have died in a plane crash in Barcelos, a tourist town in the Brazilian Amazon. This was announced by the governor of the state of Amazonas, Wilson Lima.


Twelve passengers and two crew members died in the accident, Lima wrote on X. The local authorities have not yet provided any further information about the accident. According to Brazilian media, there were no survivors. News site G1 said the plane was an Emb-110, a twin-engine turboprop from Brazil’s Embraer. The flight would be from the state capital Manaus to Barcelos, a flight of about 90 minutes. The city lies on the Rio Negro, a tributary of the Amazon, and borders several national parks. The Uol news site said the passengers were Brazilians traveling to the region for sport fishing.
