British actor Russell Brand is accused of rape, sexual assault and psychological violence by several women between 2006 and 2013 in an investigation published on Saturday by three media outlets.

Four women have accused the actor of sexual assault when Mr Brand was at the peak of his career, both as a presenter on BBC Radio 2, Channel 4 and as a Hollywood film actor.

These allegations, refuted by Russell Brand, were uncovered as part of an investigation by The Sunday Times and The Times newspapers and Channel 4.

According to the investigation published in The Sunday Times, other alleged victims accused Mr Brand of controlling, abusive and predatory behavior.

Prior to the publication of this article and the documentary broadcast on Channel 4 on Saturday evening, 48-year-old Russell Brand had posted a message on his X account (formerly Twitter) in which he “refuted” the “very serious criminal allegations” made against him. .

“I received two extremely disturbing messages […]one from a mainstream television station and the other from a newspaper listing a litany of attacks […] Which I absolutely refute,” he said.

“The relationships I have had have always been completely consensual,” he adds, denouncing a “coordinated attack” against him by the media.

In the investigation, one woman accuses Mr. Brand of raping her at his Los Angeles home, while another claims she was sexually abused during a three-month relationship when she was 16 and still in high school.

During his career as a comedian, on television and in the cinema, in the United Kingdom and then in the United States, Russell Brand was known for his repeated escapades, his former alcohol and heroin addiction, his brief marriage to the pop singer Katy Perry, and his tendency to bragging about his many female conquests.

In the mid-2010s, he posed as an anti-capitalist activist advocating “total revolution” and has recently increased the number of conspiratorial, anti-vaccine and anti-big media comments on his YouTube channel, which have been followed by more than 6 million people. Subscribers or on his X account (ex-Twitter) with more than 11 million subscribers.

He urges his audience to remain “awake” and “free” in the face of information disseminated in traditional media.

In his 2014 book “Revolution,” he advocated “a radical redistribution of wealth,” “the breakup of multinational corporations,” and the introduction of a healthy dose of “spiritualism” into society.

During the #MeToo movement, Russell Brand claimed to have no regrets about his past sexual behavior and claimed to have had sexual relationships with several hundred women.
