CF Montreal: A player banned for life… in an amateur league in Laval

CF Montreal midfielder Matko Miljevic got into trouble when he played games in an amateur soccer league in Laval under a different name and caused trouble.

The website danslescoulisses.com reported the news on Wednesday morning. Lacking playing time in Major League Soccer (MLS), the Argentine reportedly accepted a friend’s invitation to play for The Rage, a club in the Quebec Calcetto Soccer League (QCSL).

In this circuit, the games are played on a synthetic field with boards that resemble a hockey field. We have been playing six against six since we were founded in 1994.

Miljevic would have played three games between July 18 and August 15, scoring six goals, before the amateur team leaders discovered the deception. According to the QCSL website, he was operating under a false name, “Matko Milojevic,” when he was confronted by officers. They would have asked him to reveal his true identity in order to continue playing in the league, but he instead chose not to play the next game.

However, according to the Quebec website, the 22-year-old young man attended another game to support his friend. Tempers reportedly flared and Miljevic spat at a player and punched him in the face.

‘Matko Milojevic’, background photo, is now part of the long list of players suspended indefinitely by the QCSL.

Violation?

A CF Montreal representative contacted by phone said he had read the danslescoulisses.com article but had no further information to disclose. The fact that Miljevic moved to an amateur league could be a breach of contract.

In his third season in Montreal, he only played eight games with a total playing time of 124 minutes. His last appearance was on September 2, when he spent 24 minutes on the field in a 4-2 loss to the Columbus Crew.
