American actor Ashton Kutcher announced on Friday that he is stepping down as chief executive of his organization fighting child sexual abuse.

It was Time magazine that revealed the information, a few days after revealing letters the actor had written to support Masterson in his trial in which he was found guilty of sexually assaulting two women.

Kutcher is leaving Thorn, the anti-child sexual abuse organization he founded in 2009 with his then-wife Demi Moore. His wife, Mila Kunis, who served as an observer on the foundation’s board, has also decided to resign. She also expressed her support for the actor in another letter.

“Victims of sexual abuse have been silenced in the past, and the moral statement I have presented is another painful example of victims being questioned and having the courage to share their experiences,” Kutcher wrote in a September 14 letter to the board of directors of Thorn, which was shared exclusively with Time Magazine.

“After several days of listening, personal reflection, learning and conversations with survivors [de violence sexuelle]“Thorn employees and executives, my wife and I have decided that it is the responsible decision to step down from my position as CEO,” he added. “I cannot allow my misjudgment to distract us from our efforts and the children we serve. »

The actor also apologized to all victims of sexual abuse.

Kutcher, Kunis and several other former That ’70s Show cast members are among those who have written letters of support to Masterson.
