(Ottawa) Canada announced it would join the UK-led partnership to provide “high priority” air defense equipment to Ukraine

While in the United Kingdom to visit a camp where Canadian soldiers are training Ukrainian soldiers, Defense Minister Bill Blair announced that Canada would contribute €33 million to the partnership.
The donation is part of the 500 million in military aid for Ukraine that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced in Kiev in June 2023, underlines the press release published on Sunday.
In June, the United Kingdom, Denmark, the Netherlands and the United States partnered to deliver several hundred short- and medium-range anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine.
These missiles are intended to help Ukrainian forces protect themselves from Russian fire and drones.
For just over a year, approximately 170 members of the Canadian Armed Forces have been stationed at Lydd training camp to train approximately 2,600 Ukrainian recruits in weapons handling, patrol operations and battlefield first aid.
Canada has provided $8 billion in aid to Ukraine over the past 18 months, including $1.8 billion in military aid, including weapons, ammunition, military vehicles, drone cameras and winter clothing.
