The President of Costa Rica cancels his participation in the UN Week

The President has a minor health condition but, according to his personal doctor, requires rest, explains a statement from the Presidential House.

The agenda planned at the United Nations will be taken over by the Chancellor of the Republic, Arnoldo André Tinoco, accompanied by the Ministers of National Planning and Economic Policy; The letter states, among other things, Environment and Energy and Vice Minister for Multilateral Affairs.

In this 78th session, the theme of the event is “Rebuilding Trust and Revitalizing Global Solidarity: Accelerating the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals for Peace, Prosperity, Progress and Sustainability for All”.

According to the agenda of the Costa Rican delegation, they will participate in the dialogue table Resilience: Leaving no one behind as part of the meeting program that covers three key themes defined by the UN: sustainable development, environment and health.

Costa Rica is preparing for the III. Ocean Conference for 2025 and will therefore take part in several events of the United Kingdom’s Global Ocean Alliance.

Another is also sponsored by the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People, an intergovernmental group co-chaired by the Central American country and France, both co-organizers of the conference that will take place in this European country.

The Costa Rican delegation to the UN High-Level Week will participate in the dialogues related to global health in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals and the concertation to address global challenges, and will address issues of pandemic prevention, universal health coverage and the fight against tuberculosis.

The statement from the President’s House said that the speech to the General Assembly will take place on Tuesday 19th in the afternoon segment, in which he will address the main issues of interest to the country.
