Winner from Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon for the 27th Maison Tanguay – Le Journal de Québec

A woman from Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon in Chaudière-Appalaches was overjoyed after winning 27th placee Tanguay House. She found out the news with her partner on Sunday morning during the main prize draw.

When his name rang out in the reception room of the Le Bonne Entente hotel, France Bertrand and her partner Steve Lagueux burst with joy. They are the lucky ones chosen among the 15 finalists of the grand annual competition gathered for the occasion.

“This is completely unrealistic,” argues the new winner of the Maison de la Fondation Maurice-Tanguay. It’s so emotional, I can’t find words to express how happy we are! »

The hair salon owner said her plans for the day were completely disrupted by the big news.

“I was planning on going home to do some laundry, but I think we might change our plans after all,” she jokes.

For the cause

France Bertrand is obviously happy about the winning bid, but emphasizes that this was far from the goal when she bought tickets in recent months.

“It is very important for us to promote this cause. I have been systematically buying tickets for many years. It was a customer of the show, an ambassador for the Maurice Tanguay Foundation, who sold it to us like every year. »

When asked what their choice would be between a $985,000 home in the location of their choice or $750,000 in cash, the couple said they would take the time necessary to make a thoughtful decision.

“We will take the time to let the dust settle and think about it all with a clear head. Whatever we decide in the end, it’s an incredible opportunity and we just can’t believe we won,” continues Steve Lagueux

For the third consecutive year, ticket sales by the Maurice Tanguay Foundation and its ambassadors reached a new high of $3,751,470 in 2023.

This significant amount is used to carry out youth projects, to provide respite services for parents, to provide special care for children, to purchase adapted equipment or to support organizations or schools that target clients with special needs.

The Foundation’s general director, Olivier Tanguay, believes it is even more important to continue collecting donations as the need for this type of service increases every year.

“I’m impressed to see people’s generosity,” he concludes. We are in a particularly difficult time economically with inflation and the rise in the cost of living. It’s touching to see that so many people still find ways to share and give despite everything. »
