A “national computer outage” at check-in kiosks led to a slowdown at border checkpoints across the country on Sunday, including at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport.

The outage was finally resolved shortly after 6 p.m., reported the operator Aéroports de Montréal (ADM).

The waiting time to clear customs was already around 90 minutes, and this was at peak time for European arrivals, as ADM then reported.

“All of our teams are on site to assist and inform travelers, but we cannot provide an estimate as to when this will subside,” said ADM spokeswoman Anne Marcotte.

However, about an hour later, ADM said wait times had finally returned to normal.

Passenger processing must absolutely be done via these fancy computer terminals. According to ADM, this would affect all airports in the country.

The Canada Border Services Agency did not immediately respond to the cause of the outage.
