Several book lovers of all ages lined up in front of the bookstore in an impressive queue that stretched several meters. The wait did not dampen the good mood of the customers, who discussed their future literary discoveries with one another.
“It makes me happy to see a long line in front of a bookstore. It was important for me to be here today and I don’t mind waiting. The weather is nice. It is so important to me to promote this business. I am a big book lover,” said citizen Hélène Jeannotte to Le Quotidien.
“I love reading and work on the same street, so I’m here to say hello to our new neighbors. It’s nice to see a new company emerging here,” said François Cantin.
When the doors opened, the restaurant’s manager and co-owner, Valérie Potvin, was very enthusiastic as her team led customers through the shelves, which were full of all kinds of books, puzzles and board games for people aged 12 months to 99 years Years. “It is difficult for me to describe the immense happiness I feel. I am happy with this traffic and grateful to the customers. There are a lot of people there, it’s really nice,” she shared a few minutes after the doors opened.
This independent bookstore is the result of a passion for literature that germinated in Ms. Potvin’s mind. The latter refocused her career as a special education teacher to embark on this new adventure.
The opening of their company represents the beginning of a new commercial adventure for them, but also represents a significant event for the municipality of Arvida, where there was no such company. “I tried to bring in as much diversity as possible. Over time we will see what people like and what they want. I think it’s important that customers ask me what they want so that the bookstore resembles them. I want to be available to people and offer personal service. »
The kiosk in the Arvida neighborhood has a reading corner and an area for playing board games. “We also put a lot of time and investment into the manga corner. There are many requests, it is growing and I want us to become the preferred place for these types of books,” concluded the new entrepreneur.
