Alexandra Labrecque, originally from Chaudière-Appalaches, gave birth to her baby girl last January after 27 weeks of pregnancy.

This premature birth forced the woman to stay in the hospital for more than 140 days.

In an interview with our journalist, Ms. Labrecque explains the challenges that such an ordeal brings with it.

“There was a lot of sadness. I had a very difficult pregnancy. I had to mourn the loss of my belly, the grief of a normal birth, the grief of a small full-term baby. […] “The grief over breastfeeding was different,” she expressed with emotion.

Camille Dumaine, friend of Alexandra Labrecque, felt challenged by her journey.

The latter therefore donated breast milk via Héma-Québec.

To make a difference, the minimum donation is approximately twenty 15ml bottles.

“I tell myself that for me it was a surplus that was of no use to me or to Elisabeth. It’s perfect that it’s useful to someone. I know that breast milk has excellent benefits for premature babies,” she says.

In search of donations, Héma-Québec invites women interested in donating breast milk to consult its website.
