VARIOUS FACTS. A 36-year-old man died in a serious accident on Saint-Édouard near Chemin Allard on Sunday around 5:30 p.m.

The scene is chaotic. Car parts everywhere, a completely destroyed vehicle and citizens in shock.

When the accident occurred, the Allard family was at work on their farm in Rang Saint-Édouard.A disastrous Sunday evening in Sainte Brigitte des Saults Photos L

“The children were in the house looking for my friend because they heard a big noise. When I left the stable I couldn’t find her. She had approached the vehicle but didn’t dare take a closer look. When I got to the guy, I checked his wrist and neck for a pulse…he seemed to be dead already. Even his blood stopped flowing. “Everything seemed to be broken,” explained Marc-André Allard, a witness to the incident.

According to L’Express on site, the car came from the village of Saint-Brigitte-des-Saults and was heading towards Highway 20. At the entrance to the curve towards 1015, Saint-Édouard rang the bell and the car slowly moved towards the oncoming lane before sliding into the ditch. During the race, the car crashed into a culvert and literally flew through the air. When it hit the ground, the vehicle rolled over before ending its journey upside down.

“He went by like a rocket. It’s not the first time I’ve witnessed his death,” said a neighbor friend of Mr. Allard.

Firefighters freed the victim’s body before paramedics transported him to hospital.

Sergeant Éric Cadotte of the Sûreté du Québec confirmed the 30-year-old’s death. “Unfortunately he was pronounced dead at hospital. A crime scene reconstruction police officer is on site to investigate. Alcohol could be a factor.”

The road remains closed in the area (8 p.m.). A detour is planned and SIUCQ staff are on site to provide instructions to motorists.
