The Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, a Republican, has launched an investigation aimed at impeaching President Joe Biden. The basis for the announcement is what the Chamber Commission for the Supervision of Government Acts, chaired by James Comer in consultation with his father Joe, has discovered so far about the foreign affairs of the president’s son Hunter. But to say that there will be some an impeachment and actually starting the process with a ceremonial vote in the House of Representatives are two different things. And the Republican Party is divided on how to proceed. Essentially, there are those who are pushing to speed up the process, i.e. the vote, and a strong wing that favors a more prudent strategy. When McCarthy calls for a vote, It is not certain whether he would get the 218 MPs to vote yes.
