Rainfall that could have had unexpected consequences.

2300 kilos

In fact, this Sunday, at 7 a.m., a resident of Begur – the pearl of the Costa Brava (Spain) – reported a semi-submerged van in the bay of Aiguafreda. A van overturned on the slipway normally reserved for boats. When police were dispatched to the site, they found 76 packages containing 30 kilos of hashish left in the vehicle. That’s a haul of 2,300 kilos of drugs.

Police believe the van was parked backwards so the load could be loaded from a boat. “And when leaving, the vehicle started to skid or had some inconveniences until it overturned,” explains El Periodico. According to witnesses quoted by La Vanguardia, “armed men fled” when the truck overturned. According to our colleagues, this is a fairly common procedure in Catalonia.

An investigation has been launched.
