A 22-year-old woman from New York found an original way to dump her boyfriend after two years of dating: a Google Doc.
Laura Esposito planned to move to New Jersey, two hours from the Big Apple. According to The Insider, the young woman, who didn’t want to be in a long-distance relationship, used technology to escape her anxiety.
“I’m a fearful driver,” Laura Esposito said. I didn’t want to have to drive with all the emotions I was going to experience. To make it easier, I created a Google Doc to make it happen.
So she wrote a “two-page, single-spaced document” to explain to her ex that they had to go their separate ways.
“In other words, I was a coward and couldn’t bear his pain even though I knew I was the cause,” she added.
However, Laura Esposito regrets leaving him like that, as her ex got into trouble with the law a few months later.
The man, who was usually very quiet, reacted to the breakup on Google Doc by screaming, indicating that he didn’t believe what he was experiencing.
A 2020 Pew Research Center survey found that one in five adults think it’s acceptable to break up with their partner via text message or online.
