Coroner Donald Nicole concludes that the collision between a minivan and a truck on March 15 in Saint-Frédéric en Beauce was the result of a voluntary action.
A father and two children, aged 12 and 4, from Adstock died. The mother and two other children survived.

Relatives of the decimated family came to the scene of the accident in the following days to pay their last respects.

The Beauceron family was traveling in a minivan on Route 112 late in the afternoon when it collided with a tractor-trailer.
The coroner writes that the vehicle the father was driving, the minivan, suddenly moved out of the lane into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with the front of an eastbound semi-truck that the driver of the truck had attempted to avoid the collision avoid, but had no time to brake before the collision [le conducteur de la minifourgonnette] had never braked or tried to avoid the collision before the collision.
No traces of alcohol or drugs were found during the analyses. However, urine tests found traces of a drug used to treat depression.
The coroner states in his report that the man’s relatives reported that he had shown signs of fatigue some time before the collision, but that he had not expressed suicidal thoughts.
