The singer and songwriter, born in Recife in 1987, has family roots in the community of Belo Jardim in Agreste and moved to Rio de Janeiro a little over ten years ago, where she has lived ever since.

The album competing for the award is titled “Ave Mulher” and was released in March 2023 by producer Biscoito Fino. It features a bit of what Natascha defines as “Northeastern music”. Before releasing “Ave Mulher,” Natascha Falcão recorded an EP in 2019. In light of the pandemic, she said she felt the need to expand her work and dedicated herself to producing and recording the album.

“I say I sing Northeastern music because the term regional music can encompass many things. Every part of the world has a regional song. In my show, on my album there is Ciranda, Coco, Xote, but everything with a contemporary feel,” he explained. Natasha, in an interview with g1shortly after learning of the Latin Grammy nomination.

The singersongwriter said she didn’t expect to be nominated and became emotional while commenting on her artistic influences.

“It’s my first album and in this category I’m competing in, I can only enter once, right? It’s really crazy! Not even in my wildest dreams could I have imagined this! It’s an experimental album, really northeast, that speaks of a legend.” “I wrote about a bird woman. As much as we dream, this nomination is unexpected for me,” he said.

In addition to big names in Brazilian pop music (MPB), composers of his generation are also among the inspirations on the album “Ave Mulher”.

“I listen to a lot of Brazilian music. I like the classics and listen to Bethânia, Gal.” [Costa]Caetano [Veloso], Milton Nascimento. I also listen to cheesy music, a little bit of everything. But for this album I was inspired by my friends Nilton Júnior, Anaíra Mahin and Bia Marinho. There are so many cool people out there making music. It’s very exciting to see these people making music and knowing that I can do it too, that I can be together,” he explained.

About her relationship with Pernambuco and Recife, Natascha says that she draws her inspiration there, a place where she feels at home and that accompanies her everywhere.

Pernambuco does not appear in the show program for the time being. Natascha Falcão performs at the Viva Gal Tribute at the Dolores Club in Rio de Janeiro next Friday (22); has scheduled performances with the Terreirada bloc of Northeastern Culture, also the capital of Rio de Janeiro; and is planning a special show for his birthday, October 9th.

The singersongwriter explained that she has a project approved by Fundarpe (Foundation for the Historical and Artistic Heritage of Pernambuco), with performances scheduled in five cities in Pernambuco: Belo Jardim, São José do Egypt, Itamaracá, Recife and Olinda .

Lia de Itamaracá, Almério, Martins, Otto, Bia Marinho, Anaíra Mahin, Nega Deja and Lucas dos Prazeres will take part in the initiative.

According to Natascha, the first part of Fundarpe’s resource was released in 2022, but the scheduling of the presentations depends on the release of the second part of the project, which makes the logistical part of the shows feasible.
