The scientists of the NASA are formal. A asteroid could well hit Earth…in the year 2182! And it could have serious consequences, as the collision could cause devastating damage to the Earth’s surface larger than France itself, according to the New York Post.

The asteroid in question is called Bennu. And NASA has already discovered it since 1999. Every six years, Bennu comes closer to Earth, but on September 25, 2135, it could pass through a “gravitational keyhole” that would send it on a collision course toward the planet in 2182, 159 years from now. A credible scenario for scientists, who estimate the chance of it hitting Earth at 1 in 2,700. This is a high probability on a spatial scale.
Thanks to the OSIRIS-REx program, a team also collected a sample of the asteroid in 2020. According to ABC News, this sample is expected to land on Earth this Sunday in Utah and will tell the scientific community more about this asteroid that is worth watching very closely.
