“Deeply disturbed”: Teenager finds iPhone attached to airplane toilet bowl

A family traveling by plane from North Carolina to Boston was left utterly shocked when their 14-year-old daughter allegedly found an iPhone stuck to the toilet bowl, presumably positioned by a staff member to film her.

“This event has shocked and deeply disturbed our daughter – and our entire family –,” the family said in a statement on Tuesday, according to The Independent.

On September 2, the family was boarding an American Airlines flight between Charlotte and Boston when a staff member reportedly told the teenager that she could use the bathroom in first class.

After using the toilet, she realized that an iPhone hidden behind the toilet bowl had been positioned to film her. She then allegedly took a photo with her own phone before leaving the scene.

According to the family, the air attendant had come in just before the girl – telling her not to worry that the toilet seat was broken – and returned to the toilet immediately afterwards.

Upon arrival in Boston, the police would have come to pick up the employee and the investigation would have been handed over to the FBI, which would have jurisdiction since the incident occurred in the open.

This matter was taken “very seriously” by the airline, which said in a press release that it would “cooperate fully with law enforcement in their investigation as safety is our top priority,” The Independent reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
