Golden Knights: Robin Lehner is conspicuous by his absence

The Vegas Golden Knights revealed the list of players who will participate in their training camp on Wednesday, and fans were surprised to notice the absence of goaltender Robin Lehner from it.

The 32-year-old Swede is under contract with the Nevada organization for two more seasons. However, due to hip surgery, he did not play any games in 2022–2023 and therefore his name did not appear in the Stanley Cup.

Even if a player is on the long-term injured list, the team typically places his name on the list because he has a contract. This is the case with Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens, who is part of the training camp roster but will not put on his skates.

Lehner also has problems with the courts because he has filed for bankruptcy. His company, SolarCode, is also being sued over a $3.9 million unpaid loan. A businessman, Michael Borden, also filed a complaint against him for lack of transparency and honesty when applying for a loan.

The goalie makes up $5 million on the Golden Knights’ payroll. He played just over two seasons for Vegas, compiling an overall record of 38-21-4, a .910 save percentage and a 2.61 goals-against average.

Logan Thompson and Adin Hill are expected to defend the defending champions’ cage in 2023/24.
