A brutal summer for Logan Couture

Logan Couture was injured during training this summer and will miss a few weeks with the San Jose Sharks.

The San Francisco Chronicle learned Thursday that the captain was experiencing lower body discomfort and that his health was being evaluated weekly. He therefore has to miss the start of training camp.

“I’m lucky it happened now because I’ll be able to come back. “Right now the goal is not to miss a game and that’s where all my attention is,” Couture commented, according to website NHL.com, saying he was frustrated at not being able to get into his routine.

The Ontario native was the leading scorer among Sharks forwards last season with 67 points in 82 games. However, the season was difficult for the California team as they missed the playoffs by 35 points.

Couture, 34, reached the 700-point plateau at the very end of the season and is just 73 games away from reaching 1,000 career games.
