*NSYNC members reminisce about their best boy band days on “Hot Ones”

CNN –

When ’90s boy band *NSYNC was at the height of their fame, a “rush” of fans followed their tour bus on one particular occasion, Justin Timberlake recalled while appearing with the group on Thursday’s episode of “Hot Ones.” .

He described how he and his bandmates – Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez and Joey Fatone – watched as this group of fans followed their bus through a huge field with a hole in the middle – into which they all fell.

“I felt terrible,” Timberlake said, adding that on another occasion the *NSYNC fan base was so wild that they returned to their hotel suite to find that a fan had somehow snuck in.

The anecdotes were just a few the recently reunited boy band recalled while appearing on Season 22 of the famed Hot Wing interview show – including Timberlake mentioning that he actually got a “note” from a producer, “me ” to pronounce “may” in her hit song “It’s Gonna Be Me” from 2000.

The pronunciation of the word spawned a viral meme over 10 years ago and continues to circulate on social media, even though it is actually “May” at the end of April.

*NSYNC’s appearance on “Hot Ones” follows news earlier this month that the original five members have reunited to record their new track “Take You to a Better Place” for the upcoming film “Trolls Band Together.”

It’s the first song they’ve released as a group in over 20 years.

Describing their technical approach to recording the new song, Kirkpatrick said on “Hot Ones” that not much had changed since their glory days, jokingly noting, “We kind of knew we were bad at singing certain things, So we just retreated into our situation.”

He further explained that they always knew he would “do the high stuff,” that Timberlake would be the lead singer, and that “Joey would be in the middle and Lance would be on bass.”

It was a careful balance they tried to achieve “for our fans who have been with us for so long, to give them something that doesn’t necessarily feel nostalgic but feels familiar,” Timberlake said of recording “Better Place”.

“As we listen to the world today, we are obviously influenced by 20 years of experience,” Chasez added. “But we still want to give it to ourselves.”

“Take You To a Better Place” will be released on September 29th.
