Returning to work for Rouge et Or: Head coach Glen Constantin appreciates the energy and spirit in training

Glen Constantin assures that his flock is not in bad spirits a few days after the defeat against their great rivals, the Carabins of the University of Montreal.

“It is clear that there was disappointment on Sunday after the game, but this week there is a lot of energy in training and a good state of mind,” said the head coach of Rouge et Or from the University of Laval. This defeat will not shape our season. After a defeat like that, we want to play again as quickly as possible.”

When the state of mind is good, the Rouge et Or is also aware that there are points to correct. “In the last five minutes there was a relaxation after the adversity hit us,” explained Constantin. The boys didn’t react well. I was happy with our game until five minutes before the end. When we lose, we learn more and players are more receptive to lessons. The players are aware that we didn’t play our best football. We lost the ball too many times (7).”

“We have a good team, but we are still young and there is a lot of room for lessons,” continued the Laval pilot. We received our mid-season newsletter. We have dug ourselves a hole, but no one has died and there is still a lot of football to be played. We have to roll up our sleeves and work.”

The most important game

Although it would be tempting to do so, Constantin warns everyone that it is important not to prepare for October 14th, when the second leg of the Battle of Highway 20 will be played at CEPSUM.

“First of all, our first instinct is to say that we will see the carbines again on October 14th, but that is not the way to see things,” Constantin stressed. The most important game is Saturday at Concordia. If we want to face Montreal on the 14th and stay on track in the table, we have to improve every week and take it game by game.”

Having held an assistant position at Rouge et Or for several years, Brad Collinson knows full well that his opponents will be left with a knife between their teeth after a rare defeat.

“I know how they feel after a loss,” the Stingers head coach said. You still have the knife between your teeth. They jump very well and we have to be ready to give our best for 60 minutes. The result is the result, but it was a classic between Quebec and Montreal where a few mistakes made the difference.”

A rude awakening

Cristopher Beaulieu believes the 31-14 defeat to the Blues was a nice slap in the face. “It was a return to reality,” said the star defender. We made too many small mistakes. It’s a shame to have lost. It’s one thing to lose in September, but the goal is to win in November. We will build on this defeat and cultivate hatred.”

Angel Vital believes that the defeat against the Carabiners will be beneficial. “The defeat will motivate us even more,” said the second year. It was difficult at the time because it was a big game and we were all excited, but the Concordia game is an opportunity to get back on our feet.”
