Director Leonardo Nogueira, who has been with Globo for 25 years, has just been fired by the broadcaster. Earlier this year, Giovanna Antonelli’s husband was in charge of the soap opera Fuzuê, but was forced to leave the project after getting caught up in a behindthescenes mess involving allegations of cheating on his wife with an actress, the one wanted a role in Fuzuê.

Giovanna Antonelli’s husband was allegedly blackmailed by an actress who demanded a role in the plot in exchange for silence in order not to speak out about the alleged sexual harassment.

The director soon contacted Globo’s management and showed the conversations between him and actress Carolina Picchi. At that time, Nogueira showed prints that suggested he was the victim of blackmail. He also revealed that he had a brief affair with the woman but never promised her a job at Globo in exchange for sex, she said.

Carolina even asked for R$2 million to avoid denouncing him for demanding sex in return for a role in “Fuzuê”. However, the channel was not happy with Nogueira’s unprofessional behavior and decided to remove him from the role.

Nevertheless, Giovanna Antonelli’s husband went to the police and reported the actress, who was arrested for extortion and sued him for sexual harassment. The trial remains secret from the courts, and the director obtained a ruling from the Rio de Janeiro Court prohibiting some press outlets from disseminating information about the incident.

Currently, actress Carolina Picchi is adhering to the precautionary measures and cannot come close to the director, and yet he has not been able to get another chance at the channel.

In the column, the broadcaster reiterated that it does not comment on episodes covered in compliance: “As you know, Globo does not comment on compliance cases and takes the opportunity to reiterate that there is no ethical deviation whatsoever tolerated.” The company has a code of ethics that must be adhered to by all employees in all areas. In addition, an ombudsman is available to receive reports of violations. Each report will be carefully investigated as soon as the company becomes aware of it and the need to take action arises.”

Nevertheless, column sources working at Globo confirmed the dismissal of Leonardo Nogueira, who left the channel amid scandals.
