Surviving the loss of a child: He pays tribute to his little Philou by telling his story – TVA Nouvelles

“My heart stopped,” the loss of a child is by far the worst suffering a parent can endure. Vincent Rodrigue lost his young son Philou in the summer of 2016. Now, with resilience, he tells hundreds of people about the grief he experienced. A way for him to heal and feel close to his deceased son.

Philou’s father makes no secret of the fact that he is still shaken by the death of his little boy. However, telling his story to all these people helps him overcome his grief. “It’s part of my journey and my healing. I could never say that I have healed from this loss, but I have learned to live with it,” admits Vincent Rodrigue to TVA Nouvelles.

“It was unbearable”

His Philou died by drowning while staying in the chalet. Before going to bed, his father put his son on the sofa bed for the first time. “We woke up the next morning and he was no longer there,” he testified.

Unfortunately, the parents didn’t notice that little Philou had gotten up during the night. “We left the chalet and found him, he was floating on the water… It was unbearable, it really hurt. “I felt enormous guilt over my little man’s accident,” he says with emotion.

“You have to accept that you are in pain, you have to live with the pain. You can’t just delete that and start over. That’s not how it works, you have to empty your interior space. “You can’t be alone in your pain…You have to ask for help,” he comments.
