Yannickos Kitchen in Quebec Delaying fall with summer theater

“Yannicko’s Kitchen” in Quebec: Delaying fall with summer theater

After a visit to Terrebonne this summer, the piece Yannicko’s kitchen arrives in Quebec on Sunday; A great way for summer theater fans to extend the summer season a little.

A good dose of humor paired with a touch of improvisation, all in the context of a television cooking show; This is what awaits theater fans who watch “Yannicko’s Kitchen” in the Salle Albert-Rousseau.

“The most fun for us is watching everyone adjust their lines every night,” notes Sylvie Moreau, who plays Vanessa, the producer of the fictional show in the play. “Claude Tremblay [qui joue l’animateur de foule de l’émission] is really very skilled at improvising based on the audience’s reactions,” praises the popular actress with whom Le Journal spoke.

A newcomer to keep an eye on

A recent graduate of the Saint-Hyacinthe theater school, Émile Dufour surprised his more experienced colleagues with his portrayal of Ronaldo, the son of producer Vanessa.

“He has crazy instincts on stage, he’s hardworking and he’s spectacular in his role; We always have great fun watching him play,” says Sylvie Moreau, who has also been teaching at the National Theater School for four years.

Shortened version

Yannicko’s cooking was presented at the Théâtre du Vieux-Terrebonne this summer. However, it is a shorter version of the play that will be offered to audiences in Quebec on Sunday.

“The piece was a little too long, as is often the case at the beginning of production,” admits the one who played Valencia in “In a Galaxy Near You.” “Sometimes we don’t have the opportunity to make cuts to give each character a clear and defined path. It’s a great exercise that involves everyone,” explains the actress.

Yannicko’s cooking will be presented at Salle Albert-Rousseau in Quebec City on September 24th at 8 p.m.
