WHO SABOTATED THE NORD STREAM GAS PIPELINES?
A major geopolitical event, the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines a year ago, remains a mystery. Several investigations attempt to solve the mystery of this thriller set in the Baltic Sea, which takes place in an extremely sensitive context due to the war in Ukraine.
None of the three legal investigations launched separately by Germany, Sweden and Denmark have so far been successful. The “main hypothesis is that a state is behind the sabotage,” Swedish prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist said in April, adding that the perpetrators “knew very well that they would leave traces.” Interviewed by AFP on Wednesday, he was “in the final stages of the investigation” and hoped to be able to make a “decision” by 2024.
