Truck driver fined for trapping 30 million helicopter under highway

On Friday morning, a $30 million luxury helicopter being transported along a Louisiana highway became stuck in an overpass after its tip accidentally struck the structure.

Photos showed the plane stuck on a truck below the viaduct. The images show that its rotor collided with a support beam near the floor of the bridge, which runs about five meters above the highway.

The helicopter resembled a Sikorsky S92 and was almost twenty feet tall, counting the height of the truck.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) said there was no evidence of structural damage to the bridge that may have affected the highway. The area was temporarily closed and reopened to traffic after the truck and helicopter were removed.

According to local press WBRZ and other media, the 56yearold driver named Miguel Rodríguez, who was hired by the Texasbased company International Machine Transport, managed to remove the helicopter but was fined for a reckless driving violation .

Despite the traffic disruption, there were no injuries or major property damage. According to Denham Springs police, the plane was removed and returned to the owner.
