One last fatal inning for the Blue Jays

Despite a spectacular comeback, the ninth inning ended for the Toronto Blue Jays, who lost 7-6 to the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field on Saturday.

Check out the highlights in the video above.

Blue Jays starter Ryu Hyun-jin was manhandled by the Rays (95-61), who saw their opponents score four runs in the first inning. He was removed from the game in the fourth inning when manager Kevin Cash’s men took a 5-0 lead.

However, the Blue Jays (86-69) sparked the riot in the sixth inning. Outfielder George Springer hit a double that allowed Kevin Kiermaier and Tyler Heineman to cross the plate. Thanks to a walk from Whit Merrifield, they even took a 6-5 lead in the eighth inning.

Unfortunately for the Queen City Club, the ninth round turned into a real nightmare. With Jordan Romano (5-6), a man in fine form these days, coming to the plate, the Rays scored the two late runs they needed to secure the win.

Harold Ramirez scored the game-winner on a single by Josh Lowe.

This loss leaves the Jays just a half-game ahead of the last-place Houston Astros, allowing entry into the playoffs. John Schneider’s team will have a chance to get revenge against the Rays on Sunday.

Edouard Julien and the twins lose

Saturday’s game between the Minnesota Twins (82-73) and the Los Angeles Angels (70-85) will not go down in history. Quebecer Edouard Julien’s teammates lost by a narrow margin (1 to 0). It was a home run by Jo Adell that gave the Los Angeles club the victory.

In the game, Edouard Julien recorded three at-bats and one walk.

However, this defeat does not matter for the Twins, who have already qualified for the post-season tournament. The club sits at the top of the American League’s Central Division.
