After Fever, TikTok Limits Reach of NPC Lives Due to “Repetitive Actions

After gaining massive popularity in recent weeks largely because it became a joke TikTok began restricting the reach of famous NPC lives. The case report comes from some users of the platform. For those who don’t know, the broadcasts are limited to people dressed as video game characters who speak prewritten sentences according to the interaction of those observing life.

Since the beginning of September, lives have become increasingly common on the video network and some content producers have managed to monetize tens of thousands of reais from the public who watch and pay for the character to do something specific.

According to users, the company would remove these videos from the main For You page, the main way to access content in the app. This means lives would only be found if the user already follows the profile sent or via a specific link.

According to reports, when you start a broadcast of the topic, TikTok will display a message that the visibility of the live broadcast will be limited.

“Your live stream cannot be recommended and will be restricted in search results because it may contain content that contains highly repetitive, inauthentic or demeaning actions designed to trick viewers into sending gifts. This is consistent with our community’s For You feed permission standards guidelines,” the notice said.

O post has attempted to contact Tiktok to comment on the case and is awaiting a response. In the event of a manifestation, the text will be updated.

Fever in the networks

The acronym NPC comes from the world of games and means “Non Playable Character”, i.e. those game characters that appear in the course of the story but cannot be controlled. You can simply stand or walk still, compose the game’s scenery, or participate more actively in the narrative for example, completing a mission, giving tips, or selling supplies.

A feature of these characters in most games is the repeated repetition of phrases or gestures. Therefore, in TikTok Life, content creators imitate these repeated movements and say prewritten phrases several times.
