Investigations are currently underway to “clarify the circumstances and causes of death” of the 41-year-old woman.

“Killed without cruelty.” A four-meter-long alligator was shot dead in Florida on Friday while it was on the edge of a waterway with the body of a 41-year-old woman. Police identified the body on Saturday and said investigations were ongoing to determine “the circumstances and causes of death.”

A witness, Jamarcus Bullard, told media he saw a large alligator and a body in the creek and ran to the nearby fire station to raise the alarm. The animal “pulled on the body as if it was clinging to the lower part of its torso, pulling it under the water,” he described.

Second fatal attack in the county in less than a year

The witness stated that the alligator fought fiercely against the police. “They put a rope around his neck and tied him to the pulley of a truck,” he said. “They were about to bring him back but he started pulling the truck into the water. So they took a long stick, pulled his head out of the water and shot him,” he said.

According to police, it was the second fatal alligator attack in the county in less than a year.
