“Witches”: the dense and stimulating role for Stéphane Gagnon

Actor Stéphane Gagnon, who has been on our television for almost 30 years, has a lot of material to deal with in the new series Witches.

The man who defended a good guy for seven seasons on “L’Échappée” is now portraying a tormented man during the same time slot on TVA.

“It is very interesting for an actor to go to these areas. “It’s really sweet, there’s so much thickness around the bone,” said Stéphane Gagnon, who has also impressed in “Motel Paradis”, “Club illico” and “Bête noire” and “Plus Series” in recent years .

“It’s a surprise what’s coming because we don’t really see things coming and the writers are quite impressive with their twists and turns,” he added in an interview with QMI Agency.

Luc Tougas, the 54-year-old actor’s character, is linked to Joanne “Joe” Bussières (Céline Bonnier) and the community with sectarian tendencies that characterized Sainte-Piété. We don’t yet know how, but Luc injured the journalist Joe and, unlike her, he didn’t escape the small village of Estrie. Joe confronts him again in the fourth episode, airing this Monday.

“There is a special bond between them,” he said, leaving room for the mystery, the main driving force behind the series produced by Amalga in collaboration with Quebecor Content.

Luc spent his life in Sainte-Piété, where he shares his everyday life with the nurse Marie-Ève Letendre (Marie-Claude Guérin). Luc is very talented with his hands and has been doing odd jobs since he lost his livelihood.

Their quiet little life is shattered when a red baby is found alive, but in the middle of the night it crashes near the village. A message with a robotic voice warns the authorities of the child’s presence and there is talk of a prophecy related to Joe’s mother… increasing fear among those who foresee what will happen.

Tensions surrounding the baby

Since the toddler’s discovery, Luc has never been the same. His partner’s intention to take in the child does not help him, on the contrary, it triggers strong emotions in him. We can already guess that tensions within the couple will increase.

“It’s coming! There are two pretty important lines of tension: the first is that he doesn’t want the baby and she does, and the second concerns her troubled past, the effects of which she doesn’t yet know. The appearance of this child triggers one in him really deep insecurity and in his eyes it is unthinkable that he would find himself in his house. »

Stéphane Gagnon, who will begin filming the third block of Witches in October, already knows more about the narrative and arc of his character, but he is careful not to deprive us of the pleasure of discovering the secrets of this universe full of flashbacks the city.

“I recently learned more information about Luc that will help me in the future,” said the actor, adopting the pose of a man carrying a heavy burden. “Luc carries a heaviness within him. On the surface he’s a strong guy, but inside he’s hurting. »
