According to Metro Nashville police, the former Anaheim Ducks member crashed into the side of a sport utility vehicle early Saturday. The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and neither driver showed any signs of impairment, police added.
Kerdiles died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Police do not expect charges to be filed.
The Ducks selected Kerdiles in the 2012 draft and he spent two seasons with the team and played three career NHL games. He was traded to the Winnipeg Jets in 2018 and played for the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. Most recently, Kerdiles worked in real estate in Nashville.
“We are heartbroken to hear the news about Nic Kerdiles,” the Ducks posted on social media Saturday. Nic is an Irvine native and was the first player from Orange County to play for the Ducks in 2017. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones. »
Kerdiles played for the University of Wisconsin, whose hockey program mourned his death on social media. USA Hockey did the same.
