A horror film that Pierre Olivier Joseph watches over and over

Pierre-Olivier Joseph is “light years away from last year”

Pierre-Olivier Joseph represents the future of Pittsburgh’s blue line and Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan is pleased with the Quebecers’ growth trajectory.

Last year, the 23rd overall pick in the 2017 draft seemed to have finally established himself in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played 75 games, collected 21 points and maintained the best differential on the team at +8 – tied with Sidney Crosby.

However, Joseph seems to be in even better spirits after a successful summer at this training camp. He scored a goal against the Blue Jackets last Sunday and stood out in that matchup.

“He’s light years away from where he was a year ago,” Sullivan said at a news conference Tuesday. He has one year in the NHL under his belt. I think he’s feeling a lot more comfortable. You can see his confidence in his game in general, with and without the puck.

“He’s just faster. He has always been a good skater, which is one of PO’s strengths. […] This experience pushes the boys to go the extra mile because the game demands it. Those who put in the effort increase their chances of success and I believe PO has taken a step forward,” the Penguins instructor continued.

Joseph could hit the jackpot next summer when he becomes a restricted free agent. In the near future he should take part in the preparatory duel against the Red Wings in Detroit on Tuesday evening.
