She has multiplied the characters in cinema and television and has just won a Gémeaux Prize for her role in The eye of the storm and publishes the ecological illustrated book Miti salmon; Christine Beaulieu is in a “beautiful whirlwind” career.
After the 2016 “documentary” J’aime Hydro, Christine Beaulieu approaches again, but from a completely new perspective, our relationship with nature in the book Les salmons de la Miti, illustrated by Caroline Lavergne.
Ecological sensitivity
This work is the literary adaptation of the documentary show that Christine presented in the Jardins de Métis in 2021 and 2022. It reveals the power of nature through the incredible story of the salmon of the Mitis River.
“We start with 8,000 eggs and monitor what happens to them. It becomes touching, we see all the obstacles that the salmon face and we realize that we humans are making their lives even more difficult and dangerous by doing many things to affect their journey,” the defendant actress tells Nature.
The goal of this new project? Make people aware that humans are the only species capable of putting themselves in another’s shoes. “That has to come with responsibility, right? » asks the woman who met illustrator Caroline Lavergne while filming a film in the far north of Quebec.
“I think that I am inevitably connected to such topics, but they are somehow imposed on me,” continues the author, who over the years has discovered a sensitivity to ecological causes.
“My interest in a topic comes from the feeling it gives me. These are not defined or selected topics; They happen and when it comes to brewing inside you, it becomes your issue. The story of the Mitis salmon touched my soul,” adds the woman who shares her life with actor Roy Dupuis, co-founder of the Fondation Rivières (an environmental organization dedicated to protecting Quebec’s rivers).
The show on which this work is based will be presented again in the Métis next July. In Montreal it will also be shown outdoors in July in front of the Biodôme water basin.
Christine Beaulieu dedicated “The Salmon of the Mitis River” to her mother. She also paid moving tribute to him during her acceptance speech at the last Gémeaux gala.
“She has been through a health challenge over the last year and that has highlighted the love and admiration I have for her. “I also dedicated the book to my mother because it is the story of a female salmon who comes to lay her eggs in her home river and has to overcome all sorts of challenges,” she says with emotion.

On the screen
Christine Beaulieu is very busy and will once again take on the role of investigator Simone Vallier in the series Cerebum, whose third season begins production next January. She is currently filming the sequel to The Eye of the Storm, which she says is the funniest of the four seasons.
“Her daughter is moving with her boyfriend, her children are growing up, she is wondering what she likes to do as a woman. She wonders if she enjoys planning weddings during the divorce and about her romantic relationship. The character of Véro [Véronique Cloutier, sa sœur dans la série] “He experiences setbacks by meeting a man who is not his type at all, and Jules discovers a sport in which he can be a hero,” she reveals.
As for the camping scenes with actor Luc Senay (Isabelle’s father-in-law), they are among the funniest that the actress – who plays a small role in the film “Simple as Sylvain” by Monia Chokri – had to play.
