The Léger poll we’re releasing this morning, which shows the Conservatives ahead by no less than 12 points across Canada, is just one symptom of the dysfunction of Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government.
The chaotic administration of the iconic passport acts at the end of the pandemic, the government’s entanglement in the file of Chinese interference and the stubbornness to keep Johnston, “a friend” of the regime, in office; The rush to denounce India before a media leak causes the government to stall without thinking about the diplomatic strategy that would follow.
And last on the list, the government’s hesitation to immediately call for the resignation of the Speaker of the House of Commons, Mr Rota, are just the most obvious examples of the loss of liberal reflexes.
End of the diet
And this happens more at the end of the diet. For what ? Because the government is often less vigilant in dealing with problems or is forced to govern based on considerations not of the common good but of internal considerations; to accommodate sensitivities within the party or to protect the Prime Minister’s image, rather than for the sake of the public good. This is what we have seen for China, India and now for liberal President Rota.
Since President Rota himself did not immediately resign due to his extremely serious mistake coupled with unspeakable historical ignorance, Prime Minister Trudeau, as soon as he was informed of the mistake, should have informed him that he was withdrawing confidence in him by asking him to resign his office suddenly .
Trudeau no longer has any reflexes
The Prime Minister first needed popular pressure to act. Why this paralysis? Why have we allowed this shame that is overwhelming Canada to continue? Why not want to calm the international press and act quickly?
The fact that Mr Rota is family and a Liberal MP certainly has nothing to do with us not wanting to rush him. Politics took precedence over the national interest. We were thinking about the Liberal Party rather than Canada’s interests, and Canadians won’t tolerate that anymore.
