Microsoft has just released a major update for Windows 11. But contrary to what the company indicated during its Surface event, this is not the 23H2 update, but rather the Moment Update 4 of Windows 11 22H2, which integrates new functions in advance.
You still have to be patient until the Windows 11 update 23H2 lands on your PC. Because if you have turned on your PC in the last few hours, Windows 11 has undoubtedly offered you to download and install an important update.
When you restarted your computer, you may have discovered with a little emotion the redesign of the File Explorer interface, the new AI-enhanced version of Paint, or even the new features of the Screen Capture Tool.
Microsoft has a problem with the clarity of its communication
All of these new features, which Microsoft has been testing with members of its Insider program for several months, were originally announced to be available with the Windows 11 23H2 update. Without really understanding why, Microsoft introduced these new features, some of which are previews, with great fanfare in a Windows 11 22H2 update. The Redmond company, which demonstrated these new features during the Microsoft event on September 21st, visibly lacked clarity.
“We’ve developed a number of incredible new features for Windows 11 that we’ll be launching on September 26th. Get the update and you will see the new benefits of Windows 11,” said Carmen Zlateff, VP of Windows, simply at the beginning of the presentation.
Obviously, this announcement suggested in the collective imagination that it was the 23H2 update of Windows 11, which Microsoft has been working on for many months. We are not the only ones who fell into the trap. After this Microsoft event, many of our colleagues, especially in the Anglo-Saxon media, also incorrectly stated that Windows 11 23H2 would be released on September 26th.
Microsoft had subtly included a line in the press release posted online to clarify: “These experiences, including Copilot on Windows, will be available starting September 26 as part of our next Windows 11 update, version 22H2.” »
But here too the Redmond giant forgets to provide very important information. Because if you have just installed the latest Windows 11 22H2 update, you probably won’t be able to use the famous Copilot on which Microsoft built all its communications. The Windows + C shortcut that is supposed to activate it doesn’t work. And for good reason, the American company indicates, based on the small lines, that it will initially only be launched in certain countries. Users in North America as well as certain parts of Asia and South America are initially eligible. Of course, in our latitudes you have to be patient.
New features announced for Windows 11 23H2, delivered in Windows 11 22H2
In addition to the unnecessary complexity of the names Microsoft uses to identify its updates, it is becoming increasingly difficult to understand the company’s logic. The update rolled out to Windows 11 22H2 yesterday actually introduces a number of new features that were expected in Windows 11 23H2.

In addition to Windows Copilot, which we’re currently missing, the latest update to Windows 11 22H2, “Moment 4,” introduces the new version of Paint, which integrates AI-powered features and support for layers. Other new features included in this update include the new Screen Capture Tool or Windows Backup, the new Backup utility for Windows 11, and the new Settings home page.
