A mother-of-three was left in tears after being able to afford her weekly shopping thanks to the kindness of a stranger.
Beth Nelson, from Denton, Tameside, was teary-eyed on TikTok as she spoke about not being able to afford the weekly grocery shop for her family of four.
The young mother explained she went to the checkout when she realized she didn’t have enough to cover the £41.65 bill for her family’s meal.
The desperate mother was contemplating which items she would need to return from her already small but necessary grocery store when the kind stranger came to her aid.
A visibly emotional Beth shared on TikTok how a good Samaritan came forward to pay for her shopping and told her just because she’s currently struggling doesn’t mean she’s a bad mother.
Beth Nelson (pictured) struggled to recant the story about her inability to pay for her family’s groceries. She told viewers she had to “run home to cry”
The mother-of-three pointed her camera at the few items she could get for just over £40 and sobbed: “I literally had to run home to cry.”
With tears in her eyes, Beth told her approximately 18,800 followers on TikTok that everyone at the checkout started staring at her when she realized she didn’t have the money to run her store.
In a video that now has over 140,000 views, the mother of three cried: “I got to the checkout and I didn’t even have enough. “People were staring at me.”
The struggling mother began to weigh what important things her family would need more.
Luckily for Ms. Nelson, a buyer who had reportedly been in a similar situation before came forward to settle the bill.
But when the friendly stranger asked Ms Nelson to speak outside, the mother of three feared the worst.
She feared that the woman would insult her as she left the supermarket or, even worse, hurl insults and insults at her.
But to the mother’s surprise, the charitable stranger wanted to say a few encouraging words.
The struggling mother-of-three was embarrassed as her fellow shoppers stared at her when she didn’t have enough for the weekly shop for herself and her three children
Ms Nelson had to hold back tears as she revealed that a kind stranger had offered to pay for her shopping while reassuring her that despite her difficulties, she was not a bad mother
She even gave Ms. Nelson some money to help the family get through the rest of the week.
Beth managed to catch her breath while temporarily stopping her sobs and said, “That woman was really nice.”
The mother of three continued: “She gave me a big hug and said she had been in the same position before.”
Doing her best to hold back her tears, Ms Nelson added: “She reminded me that just because I’m struggling at the moment doesn’t mean I’m a bad mother.”
The woman told Beth that there are parents who can empathize with her plight as they too have been in a similar situation.
Beth recounted how the kind stranger reminded her of how many people had found themselves in exactly the same predicament as her at the supermarket checkout.
People flooded the mother of three’s comments section sharing their own financially precarious experiences.
One wrote: “I know this too well.” I have to find £20 every week for myself and my son. I waive it so he doesn’t do it. You are a great mother who is doing her best.”
Another chimed in: “Know this feeling all too well.” I’m currently on my third day of not eating myself, so my kids eat and have gas and electricity. I hope things get better for you soon.’
People flocked to the comments to offer their support to the struggling mother of three, with many commenters reporting similar experiences
One person told how they “cried for weeks” after a woman bought them diapers because she didn’t realize there wasn’t enough money on her bank card for them.
