With a pronounced Cibaeño accent, Manny Pérez recounts with regret the pilgrimage he has undertaken for 12 years to ensure a better quality of life for the residents of Baitoa, municipality of Santiago de los Caballeros.
Specifically, he has one request: “An aqueduct for Baitoa!” It is a scream that he lets out during the promotion of his film “La Soga 3: Venganza”.
Taking advantage of the story of what the third part of this saga brings, he adds: “La Soga is part of what we are and live as a people, there is also a bit of this struggle, of this request… Me “I don’t understand why there is still no aqueduct in Baitoa, but we have a dam.”
While Manny waits for an answer, he’s here promoting The Rope 3: Revenge.
In the film he emphasizes again that the story since the first part is based on a violent incident committed by La Soga, which he witnessed during his stay in Santiago. With this story, Manny wanted to humanize the character and show how difficult it is for him to become a better person in a judgmental society.
complex character
“We are dealing with a complex character who is fighting against his past, who wants to be good and society doesn’t allow that. I wrote a script based on this event that I witnessed in Santiago and we are already working on a third part.”
The third part of “La Soga 3: Venganza” will hit cinemas in the country on October 19, directed and produced by Manny Pérez.
challenges
Manny looks back and reflects on the journey since 2009, when he hit theaters in the neighborhoods of the Dominican Republic and Washington Heights with the story of Luisito, who goes against the world in search of justice, directed by Josh Crook came. For a second part, Pérez recalls, it was an opportunity to show that he could be more than just an actor, and he began producing and directing the film without Crook’s support.
“La noga 2”, also produced in the USA, is the sequel to part 1 of La noga and the plot tells an exciting love story; where an ex-convict faced his inner demons and violent past.
This year he proudly says that it is the first saga of Dominican films in the action genre. His biggest challenge was finding financial support. “For all of us who make independent films, the economic part will always be our big challenge. It was difficult to get financial support, but in the end we did it and I assure you that we have a good product and it will be liked by all viewers.”
Additionally, the film will premiere at United Palace and stream on distributor Freestyle Digital Media’s platforms, including Apple TV and Amazon Prime, starting December 12.

“I think this part 3 of the saga is my best work as an actor, director and screenwriter. “I think the story works on its own without knowing or seeing the first or second part, and I am very satisfied and proud of what we have achieved,” said the actor.
With photography by Joseph Rodríguez and music by Carlos Martin Carle, “La Soga 3” was filmed in March 2022 in Santiago and Baitoa, where Manny Pérez is from.
“This film is a raw reality of our country. It’s a reality that teaches me why I believe that when we have a camera, we have to do something that isn’t just flowers and chocolates. “I am a vigilante of my country and I have always wanted to bring the truth,” he said.
It should be noted that the second part will be broadcast in the United States and will be the first Dominican film to premiere on Unimax and Univisión and will be available on the Vix platform.
