Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman could miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury that’s worse than initially feared.

COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M second-year quarterback Conner Weigman’s lower leg injury is worse than previously thought, according to several program insiders.
Weigman will likely miss the rest of the season after further testing revealed a more serious injury – a small fracture in his foot – than a severe sprain. A&M coach Jimbo Fisher described Monday that Weigman was “day old” with an ankle injury he suffered late in the first half of A&M’s 27-10 win over Auburn last Saturday in the teams’ Southeastern Conference opener to day”.
Fellow freshman Max Johnson replaced Weigman in the second half and threw two touchdown passes to open the game. The Aggies (3-1) face Arkansas (2-2) at 11 a.m. Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, and Johnson is expected to make his first start this season.
Johnson started at LSU two years ago before transferring to A&M before last season. Weigman, who beat Johnson for the starting job in August camp, played in four games this season and could redshirt if he doesn’t play again this year if he chooses. The 20-year-old Weigman could be a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft if he becomes eligible for the draft for the first time.
Weigman is a former five-star prospect out of Bridgeland High in the 2022 class who was one of the SEC’s top quarterbacks for a quarter of the season and before his injury.

Brent met his wife, KBTX-TV news anchor Crystal Galny, at the Dixie Chicken before an A&M-Texas Tech football game in 2002, and the couple has three children: Will, Zoe and Brady.
