The name of Alexandre Cormier-Denis appears at the end of the day on the list of people who will speak in this consultation on Thursday.
All parties represented in the National Assembly expressed on Wednesday some discomfort at hearing the man whose right-wing positions are very clear.
Mr. Cormier-Denis rose to prominence for organizing a meeting in 2016 with Marine Le Pen, then president of the Front National, a far-right party in France.
In a press briefing on Wednesday, Quebec Solidaire (QS) MP Haroun Bouazzi said: “Are we okay with conspiracy theories and supremacist theories?” Obviously I disagree. »
For its part, the Parti Québécois (PQ) said it would stay away from the consultation and not ask questions of Mr. Cormier-Denis if he appeared on Thursday.
The leader of the official liberal opposition, Monsef Derraji, nevertheless argued that the National Assembly needed to hear a variety of voices in general consultations.
