Teenager disappeared in Wales in 2002: two suspects were arrested 21 years later

A 59-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were handcuffed in Wales on Tuesday morning in connection with the disappearance of a teenager believed to be more than 21 years old.

“Robert’s mother [Williams]”Cheryl has been informed of these arrests and our thoughts are with Robert’s family,” Inspector David Butt said on Tuesday, according to the BBC.

Earlier this month, the grieving mother, who has still not lost hope of finding out the truth about the circumstances of her son’s disappearance on March 22, 2002, launched a new appeal for information, urging potential witnesses to come forward. He insists he “needs to know what happened to his then 15-year-old teenager.”

His efforts would not have been in vain, as this week investigators arrested a 59-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man. Both people were reportedly released on bail.

The day after his disappearance, Robert Williams was seen at a party a few miles from his home in Aberdulais, south Wales, and has not given any sign of life since, despite numerous police calls over the years.
