Moose causes subway stop in Stockholm

A moose got lost on the subway tracks in the Stockholm metropolitan area and then in a station.

A moose caused major disruption to metro traffic in the Stockholm metropolitan area and was subsequently shot. The animal got lost first on the tracks on Wednesday and then at Vårby gård station, as a spokesperson for Stockholm’s public transport company told Swedish news agency TT and radio station SVT, among others.

At the station, they initially tried to lure the elk again – but when they were unsuccessful, game wardens had to shoot the animal. The moose had already paralyzed much of the red line of the Stockholm metro network. Several stations had to be closed. Videos from the newspapers “Aftonbladet” and “Expressen” showed the animal running along the trails above the ground. (APA/dpa)
