While Meta is waiting for augmented reality glasses that are as thin and light as non-networked glasses, Meta is offering an intermediate product with the Stories series: These are Ray-Bans with some networked functions. The company has introduced a second generation.
Meta stands and signs. Even if the first generation of Stories glasses does not seem to be able to convince users – at least with its networked functions – The group has released a new version that abandons the Stories brand. Now we simply have to talk about the Ray-Ban Meta collection.
Live streaming with glasses
The new models, still designed with EssilorLuxottica (owner of the Ray-Ban brand), do not revolutionize the original concept. It’s still about being able to take photos and film thanks to a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor. The main innovation here is the ability to stream in 1080p and live for up to a minute, of course on Facebook or Instagram, provided that the glasses’ smartphone companion is connected to the network in one way or another. A 5-microphone system records ambient sounds.

The “free-ear” speakers have also been redesigned to offer more bass and a higher maximum volume. Hearing is improved in noisy or windy environments. Technically speaking, these glasses integrate a Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 chip from Qualcomm. A record button and a touchpad allow you to control the various functions of the glasses, which can also be controlled verbally. The battery life is 4 hours, with the carrying case up to 36 hours.

Two series are offered, Wayfarer and Headliner, each in a Ray-Ban design. These new glasses will be available from October 17th; You can pre-order them now starting at $299. You will have to wait to find out the price and availability in France as only the US, Canada and the UK are affected.
