Massive explosion rocks warehouse near airport in Uzbekistan G1

A large explosion occurred in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the news website “Daryo” reported on Thursday morning (28) and Wednesday evening (27) in Brasília. According to initial investigations, the accident occurred in a customs warehouse near the local airport.

People were injured in the incident, but none of them were seriously injured. The number of victims was not disclosed by local authorities.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation. Witnesses reported seeing “strong lightning.” In addition, a blast wave was felt up to 30 km from the epicenter, shattering windows in nearby apartments.

A large area caught fire and the fire was brought under control hours later. According to the authorities, 16 fire and rescue workers and three special vehicles were on site to contain the flames.

“At the moment there are no serious injuries among them. Currently, doctors are providing all necessary medical assistance,” the country’s Ministry of Health reported on Telegram.

“The people injured in the fire at the scene of the accident and in the surrounding apartments also received emergency medical care.”

Flights from the airport in the region where the explosion occurred were not affected.
