The tree, made famous by the Hollywood film “Robin Hood”, starring Kevin Costner, was illegally cut down.

The nature conservation organization National Trust talks about vandalism. Police began investigating and, according to the BBC, arrested a 16-year-old on Thursday night.

“We know how popular this iconic tree was locally, nationally and with all visitors. Together with our partners, we are investigating what happened and what can be done”, emphasized the National Trust organization, which manages the national park.
