Netherlands: At least two dead in two shootings in Rotterdam, one suspect arrested

This Thursday there were two shootings in Rotterdam in which, according to police, at least two people were killed. A 32-year-old man was arrested.

At least two people were killed in a shooting in Rotterdam on Thursday, police said. A 32-year-old suspect was arrested, she added.

A gunman opened fire in an apartment in the Dutch city and then stormed into a nearby medical center.

“Both shootings in Rotterdam resulted in deaths. We will first inform the family and relatives and provide them with further explanations later,” the city’s police said in a statement on X, formerly Twitter.

Fires linked to the shooting?

She also made it clear that the hypothesis of a second shooter has been ruled out for the time being.

The motive for the attack remains unknown, local news agency ANP said, citing police.

Footage at the scene showed people, including doctors, leaving the hospital as police officers wearing bulletproof vests entered.

According to local authorities, fires broke out in both the house and the University Hospital where the shootings occurred.
