Sycamore Gap, a famous British tree, is deliberately felled
A tree in the United Kingdom that even had its own name, Sycamore Gap, was felled by vandalism in the early hours of Friday (28) morning, according to police.
Officials said they arrested a 16yearold male in connection with the falling tree.
Sycamore Gap was located in Hadrian’s Wall, an ancient Romanera work that marked the border of the Roman Empire on the island of Great Britain.
The tree was also called the “Robin Hood Tree” because there is a scene from the 1991 film “Robin Hood” in which it appears.
The age of the tree is estimated to be several hundred years. In 2016 it was voted “English Tree of the Year”.
The National Fund, one of those responsible for the website, said the news was shocking and sad.
Police said this was a nationally known site and the felling of the tree was a shock, causing grief and anger in the local and national community.
